COURSE DESCRIPTION

This course provides an introduction to the teaching of mathematics to children of ages Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 1. The course will examine methodologies appropriate to the physical and cognitive developmental stages of these children, and provide students with opportunities to gain confidence in treating math concepts developmentally appropriate at this level. Through active participation and involvement in this course, students in the course will develop, implement, assess and modify curriculum and lessons to teach children mathematics as designated by state and national standards.
